Isaac told Jacob about the vision of the ladder that Jacob would see, saying: You shall behold a ladder set up on the earth, reaching to heaven, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon it.

The Lord shall stand above it and say: I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac.
