Ezekiel — Chapter 34

• **Sanhedrin 19a** teaches that whoever raises an orphan child as if it were his own is considered as if he had given birth to it — the scattered flock of chapter 34 are the orphaned covenant people whose shepherds have eaten the fat and clothed themselves with the wool while letting the flock become food for every beast (34:3-5); the Sitra Achra's primary infiltration route into covenant communities is always through compromised leadership.

• **Berakhot 31b** records that the Shekhinah does not rest except on a person who is joyful in the performance of a mitzvah — the shepherds who ruled with force and cruelty (34:4) are the opposite of this; their leadership drives the Shekhinah away from the flock rather than toward it, which is the enemy's operational goal achieved through captured institutional leadership.

• **Yevamot 121b** discusses the obligation to search for someone lost at sea — YHWH's declaration "I myself will search for my sheep" (34:11) is the divine decision to perform the rescue operation personally when the first-heaven shepherd class has been fully captured by the enemy; the divine commander takes the field directly.

• **Avot 2:7** teaches "The more flesh, the more worms; the more possessions, the more worry" — the fat and strong sheep who pushed aside the weak (34:16) are the enemy's collaborators within the covenant community; the horizontal oppression within the flock is a second-level enemy strategy: when external attack fails, internal division and exploitation of the weak is the fallback.

• **Sanhedrin 98b** teaches that the Messiah will be revealed among the poor — the one shepherd from the Davidic line set over the unified flock (34:23-24) is the divine answer to the false-shepherd crisis; my servant David will be prince over them forever; the enemy's capture of the shepherd class is permanently answered by the installation of the shepherd who cannot be captured or corrupted.
