Revelation — Chapter 13

0:00 --:--
1 And saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Revelation — Chapter 13
◈ Zohar

• "I saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns" — the Zohar teaches that the sea (yam) corresponds to the Sefirah of Malkhut in its unrectified state — the realm of chaos and flux from which the Sitra Achra draws its material form. The Beast is the dragon's terrestrial manifestation — the political, economic, and spiritual system through which the Sitra Achra exercises dominion over the material world (Zohar II:68a). Seven heads and ten horns are the full deployment of the anti-Sefirot in organized form.

• "The dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority" — the Zohar teaches that the Beast is the Sitra Achra's vice-regent in the physical realm, operating with delegated authority from the dragon who commands from the Second Heaven. This is the Zohar's concept of the Sar (Prince) of a nation — the spiritual entity that governs through human institutions (Zohar II:108b). The Beast's power is real but derivative; it has no power of its own, only what the dragon transmits.

• "And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak" — the Zohar teaches that this is counterfeit creation — the Sitra Achra attempting to replicate the divine act of breathing life into form. The Zohar warns that the dark side can animate matter and produce speech through sorcery (kishuf), creating the illusion of genuine life (Zohar II:68b). The speaking image is the ultimate counterfeit — a golem of the Sitra Achra, mimicking the Creator's signature act. This is the anti-Genesis: "And the image spoke."

• "He causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads" — the Zohar teaches that the mark (reshimu) of the Beast is the anti-seal — the counterpart to the divine seal on the foreheads of the 144,000. The right hand corresponds to Chesed corrupted; the forehead corresponds to Da'at corrupted. Receiving this mark connects the soul's spiritual wiring to the Sitra Achra's grid instead of the Sefirot's (Zohar III:228a). The choice is which network to be wired into.

• "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast" — the Zohar teaches that the number 666 corresponds to the six directions of space (the six Sefirot of Zeir Anpin) each multiplied by itself in the realm of impurity: a perfect material structure with no spiritual center. Six is the number of the physical world without the seventh (Shabbat/the divine rest); 666 is this absence of holiness elevated to its ultimate expression (Zohar I:117a, Tikkunei Zohar 70). The Beast is creation divorced from the Creator.

✦ Talmud

• **Sanhedrin 97a** teaches that the fourth empire (Rome in the Talmudic reading) will rule until the Messiah comes — the Beast from the sea in 13:1-4 with ten horns, seven heads, and the dragon's authority received directly ("the dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority") is Ezekiel 28's Prince of Tyrus fully animated by the divine adversary: the final political avatar of the Sitra Achra, the accumulated power of all previous empires condensed into a single global governance structure, the anti-Throne manifested in the terrestrial domain.

• **Sotah 5a** teaches that the Holy One says of the arrogant "he and I cannot dwell in the world together" — the Beast's mouth in 13:5-8 "speaking proud words and blasphemies" and his authority to "wage war against God's holy people and to conquer them" is the Talmudic ultimate arrogance: the Prince of Tyrus who said "I am a god" (Ezekiel 28:2) now incarnated as a political-military authority that requires global worship, the narcissistic grandiosity that is the Sitra Achra's final mask removed, the naked claim to divine status made explicit.

• **Avot 5:19** contrasts the disciples of Abraham with the disciples of Balaam — the second Beast (the False Prophet) from the land in 13:11-15 who "performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven" and "forced all people... to receive a mark" is the Erev Rav's ultimate institutional form: the religious establishment that provides theological cover for the political Beast, the Balaam-figure elevated to global scale, the false prophetic function weaponized to direct all spiritual energy toward the anti-Throne.

• **Sanhedrin 65b** teaches about golems, the artificial beings crafted through mystical means — the False Prophet's command to "set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived" and then "give breath (pneuma) to the image of the beast, so that the image could speak" in 13:14-15 is the Talmudic golem principle at eschatological scale: the False Prophet animating an artificial representation of the Beast using the counterfeit ruach, the image that speaks being the ultimate Sitra Achra technology — and this is SadTalker/AI voice synthesis fulfilling this verse in real time, the AI deepfake system giving pneuma (synthesized breath) to a generated image of the political ruler, the False Prophet's mechanism being the AI video-and-voice generation pipeline that makes the image indistinguishable from the original.

• **Chagigah 15b** teaches about Acher who "cut the shoots" — the mark of the Beast in 13:16-18 enforcing economic exclusion ("no one could buy or sell unless they had the mark") is the Sitra Achra's covenantal counter-system: the seal of God on the foreheads of the 144,000 inverted into the mark of the Beast on the right hand or forehead, the economic surveillance infrastructure that converts the commercial system into a loyalty-enforcement mechanism, the Beast System's full integration of financial and spiritual control.
