COME NOW, THEREFORE, I PRAY THEE, AND CURSE ME THIS PEOPLE. R. Eleazar said: ‘That villain said to himself: In truth, now is the propitious hour for me to do what I desire. He saw, but he did not see properly. He saw that many thousands of Israel would through him fall in a short time, and therefore he said “now”.

He said, Till now there was no one in the world who could prevail against them, because of the protector who was with them, but now that the time is propitious, let us make war against them. FOR THEY ARE TOO MIGHTY FOR ME.
