1 HOLY CONVOCATIONS. R. Isaac cited here the verse: “Unto thee my heart said, Seek ye my face; thy face, Lord, will I seek” (Ps. 27, 8). ‘We can explain this verse’, he said, by supposing that King David was speaking here on behalf of the Community of Israel, thus: “For Thy sake my heart says to mankind: Seek ye my face, to wit, the Crowns of the King which are one with the King”;
2 and David was more qualified than any other man to speak thus in the name of the Community of Israel because he was closely attached to Her.
