So come and see: That 'End of All Flesh' — his whole desire is always for flesh. And because of that, the rectification of the flesh is always with him, and that is why he is called the 'End of All Flesh.' And when he reigns, he reigns over the body, but not over the soul. The soul rises off to its place, whereas the flesh is given to that place, in the manner of the sacrifices — such that that which is desired rises off to one place and the flesh to [another] place.
And a righteous person is an actual sacrifice for atonement. But one who is not righteous is not, since he has a blemish in him, as it is written: for it will not be desired from you (Leviticus 22:20). And because of this, the righteous person is atonement in the world and an actual sacrifice. Fortunate are the righteous in this world and in the world to come.
1The first 39 lines of the Hebrew text do not appear in the translation. THEN THE CLOUD COVERED THE TENT OF MEETING, whereby the Shekinah dwelt on the earth, and the unclean spirit, designated “end of all flesh”, passed out of the world and disappeared into the cavern of the great abyss. The Holy Spirit had thus sole sway over the world, as Scripture says: “Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting”.
It is further written: AND MOSES WAS NOT ABLE TO ENTER INTO THE TENT OF MEETING, BECAUSE THE CLOUD ABODE THEREON, in other words, because the Holy Spirit hovered over the world and the unclean spirit passed out. The wicked, however, draw him again into the world, and if not for them he would completely disappear.
But in the days to come the Holy One, blessed be He, will cause him to pass completely out of the world, as Scripture says: “He will swallow up death for ever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people will he take away from off all the earth; for the Lord hath spoken it” (Isa. 25, 8); also, “and (I will cause) the unclean spirit to pass out of the land” (Zech. 13, 3). Blessed be the Lord for evermore. Amen and Amen. “The Lord will reign for ever.”
